Analysing and Evaluating Live Theatre for an Exam

Availability: In stock.

£45.99

Quick Overview

This book has been created specifically for students revising for AQA's Component 1, Section C, Live Theatre Production. Perfect to use with students on the run-up to the exam-why not photocopy a section (each section is an example exam question) and spend a lesson going through the theory, guidance and notes, linking it to the live theatre production they have seen? Or, photocopy and give to your students sections to work through for homework/study leave.

The A4 photocopiable, colour booklet will guide students through a number of different exam-style questions and show them how to tackle each of the key assessment objectives as well as how to analyse and evaluate the live theatre they have seen.

Each section of the book focuses upon an exam-style question and breaks down the question so that the students know how to approach it. The sections will encourage students to read theory and guidance about the aspect of live theatre being questioned, but will also require them to make detailed notes and ideas that analyse and evaluate the production they have seen. It will help them to consider how they would answer the question using evaluations of their own live theatre production. At the end of each section, students can look at an exemplar answer with examiners' annotations, helping them to further understand how the mark scheme will be applied in this component.

The revision questions explored in the book cover the following live theatre aspects:

performance space and how it was used,
stage movement and spatial relationships,
how character motivations were conveyed in performance,
how character relationships were conveyed in performance,
stage design and design approaches, shapes, lines, colour, texture and forms within design aspects,
lighting designs, lighting systems and lighting angles,
performers' vocal work, vocal variations, gestic acting, proxemics, directional movement and blocking.

By working through this book, students will have a full set of notes that provide a detailed analysis and evaluation of their own live theatre production that they can revise for this exam and they will be used to tackling a variety of different exam-style questions.
