This A4 photocopiable booklet contains a scheme of work for each year group, each scheme exploring a different form/style of modern theatre: Year 7 tackle Political Theatre, Year 8, Verbatim Theatre and Year 9 focus upon Theatre of the Absurd.
The book provides you with three complete schemes of work: one for Year 7, one for Year 8 and one for Year 9. The schemes are intended to last approximately one half term. Each scheme provides you with 6 lessons of approximately 1 hour duration, providing you with enough planning for a half term.
Using examples from the world of theatre, key playwrights/companies and moments from significant play texts each scheme is the perfect teaching resource to introduce students to the many aspects of theatre today. Students will be encouraged to explore the influences, intentions and theories behind each modern style as well as considering the effect upon audiences, typical techniques, key play texts and how each style fits in to the wider context of theatre today.
