Gizmo -A Key Stage Three Teaching Pack

Availability: In stock.

£29.99

Quick Overview

We fully recognize that lesson structures in drama need to be focused, yet at the same time flexible. No one format will fit all schools, or all lessons. However, we feel that we have produced a scheme that is accessible and will easily convert into your department’s own teaching styles and structures for your Key Stage Three students.

This teaching pack is based around a series of eight main lessons. If you follow the eight lessons from start to finish you will be able to teach Gizmo by Alan Ayckbourn in its entirety. However, the scheme has been designed so that it can be flexible. If for example, you have rigid time constraints, reading of entire scenes could be replaced with summarizing key events and smaller extracts of text. Or, some of the teaching activities could be omitted. Each lesson has been designed to have a range of activities and options. Timings have been deliberately omitted because this will depend upon the range of abilities. One lesson in this scheme could be spread over a series of timetabled sessions, depending upon time allowances within your school, or the activities could be selected to last only one timetabled session. It has been designed with flexibility in mind.

The teaching pack is accompanied by a collection of photocopiable student handouts to help provide you with fun, hands-on activities to be completed during your lessons. The pack also includes an assessment section to help you evaluate pupil progress throughout your teaching of this play, both short and medium term. The assessment sheets will help you collect a range of evidence throughout your students’ studies. It also contains an exam paper, with detailed mark scheme to help you, should you want to, deliver a formal method of assessment at the end of a term. These sheets are designed to support you in making judgements about your students’ progress, and will help you to identify targets or help with report writing.
